Gerry Youngman - Trumpet, Trombone

      A native of Rochester, NY, Gerry received his Bachelor's in Music from the Berklee School of Music on a full
scholarship to study Trumpet, Arranging, and Composition.  Before attending Berklee, he studied with Rochester's
Chuck Mangione and later was mentored by Miles Davis and Chet Baker.  In the late 80s he formed the band
Paradigm Shift with Melvin Henderson.  The band's first CD charted in the top 10.  A Nagel Heyer recording artist,
Gerry has performed with many great musicians including David "Fathead" Newman, Marcus Printup, Fred Wesley,
Bobby Militello, and Chuck Mangione.  Paradigm Shift has shared the stage with The YellowJackets, The
Rippingtons, David Sanborn, Najee, Grover Washington, Jr., and John Scofield.   A composer and arranger, Gerry has
written and recorded over 20 songs on the Nagel Heyer and Trier record labels.   He is also an accomplished jazz
organist.  Working with Bill Tiberio, an award-winning music educator in WNY, Gerry has done many Master Classes
at elementary, junior high, high schools, and colleges throughout the area.   He is enjoying his new home in Buffalo!
Brass
Dan Reitz - Piano, Trombone, Composition, Music Theory

      Dan earned his Master’s in Education from the University at Buffalo and his Master’s in Music Composition from
Syracuse University with concentrations in jazz and music theory.  While at Syracuse, he performed with the
Syracuse University Jazz Ensemble.  He currently teaches in the Williamsville School District.   Dan has played with
several big bands and plays piano and trombone in three local bands.
